Simple Inventory & Stock Count Routine for Kirana Shops
Use receiving, sales depletion and stock counts to identify discrepancies.
Start with a manageable set of items
Record an identifiable name, unit, opening stock and purchase/selling prices for your most frequently sold products first. For loose products, define whether they are tracked by pieces, kilograms or litres.
Inventory movement example
If the shop opens with 20 packets, receives 12 and sells 8, expected closing stock is 24 packets. If physically counted stock is 22, investigate the 2-packet difference; do not silently change a completed sale.
Daily and weekly workflow
- Receive new stock when deliveries arrive, using the invoice as supporting evidence.
- Check that completed sales reduce tracked stock, where tracking is enabled.
- Review low-stock alerts and count the high-turnover items daily.
- Count slow-moving products on a weekly rotation and record adjustments with reasons.
- Export stock and movement reports before device migrations.
