Back Up Browser-Based Billing Data Before It Is Lost

A merchant-friendly backup checklist for local-first invoice and sales records.

What the local-first design means

Bill It Bharat's core invoices, sales history and some related merchant records are stored in the browser/device. Signing in on a second phone does not guarantee that those local records move with you. Google sign-in and connected customer ordering use cloud services for their own purposes.

Daily backup steps

  1. Open the merchant app on the device used for billing.
  2. Open reports or available export controls and download invoices, sales, account and stock files that matter to your business.
  3. Check each file opens, has the correct date range and contains expected entries.
  4. Copy files to a location outside the browser, ideally with an additional separate backup.
  5. Use a filename such as ShopName_2026-10-21_sales.csv; avoid overwriting yesterday’s export.
  6. Keep access limited because exported files can include customer information.

Before changing phones or clearing cache

Export, open and independently verify your important records first. CSV/XLSX export may be suitable for archiving and reconciliation, but is not necessarily a full importable restore. Do not wipe the old device assuming one-click recovery exists.
